One of the most popular areas of collecting; is vintage grade school lunchboxes

As a young girl going off to first grade back in the 1960s, I remember the cherished lunchbox my parents purchased for me.
Although, I didn’t have the option of picking it out for myself (such as today’s children do), it was still quite a thrill to have my very own NEW lunchbox. I didn’t have the fun cartoon or celebrity character lunchbox, but the plain red check one with a matching thermos.

Back in the 1960s, my lunch consisted of a peanut butter and jelly, or marshmallow sandwich;
a Saran-wrapped handful of potato chips (we didn’t have the buffet of chip flavors back then), and a tangerine or apple. Now and then, I would be surprised to find a Hostess Twinkie or HO HO inside….WHAT A THRILL!

Below, is a Disney Domed School Bus lunchbox-which can be very valuable, but due to its poor conditon-is not worth much.

Here are some collectible lunchboxes we have fond memories of.
Hey, “Spam” used to be pretty good when fried!
