Certainly not everyone knows the current values on all collectibles. Buyer beware, trends are constantly changing, and the values on past high-demand vintage collectibles is in a downward spin right now.
One such example, is the “Holiday Barbie Doll Collection”-which started in 1988.
Six years ago, if you were lucky enough to find the first Holiday Barbie Doll (Happy Holiday)-NRFB (never removed from the box), you could sell her online for over $500. Today, you would be lucky to see a $125 resale value on ebay or Etsy.
The market was flooded with Barbie doll collector editions in the 1990s, thus, the market for owning one fell.
Their are still a lot of collectible limited edition Barbie dolls still very valuable, but the craze has calmed down a bit.
Personally, a Barbie doll-other than the originals from the late 1950s-1960s-that has been played with, is only worth a fraction of the cost of one still in her original box-unopened.
Sad, but true. Most of the Barbie dolls I purchased for my girls in their younger years, were played with, so they are only of sentimental value.
This 1988 Holiday Barbie might sell for $25-Unfortunately,she isn’t in her original box and in used condition.
